Where have I been?
USA - 2025
Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Moab, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Grand Canyon, San Francisco
I was invited to an awards night in San Francisco because one of my whiskies was a finalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. I didn't want to fly all the way there for just a weekend weekend, so I took a few weeks off and visited the national parks of Utah and Arizona before going to San Francisco. This was a trip that involved a lot of driving, but I got to visit some incredible natural wonders and it's left me hungry for more.
China - 2024
Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuxi
The distillery received an invite from Investment NSW to have a stall at the Chinese International Import Expo in Shanghai. Whilst it was a work trip and there was not a lot of free time, it was based in the Hongqiao region of Shanghai and we also went to Nanjing and Wuxi to explore additional cities
Europe - 2024
Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain & Abu Dhabi
For this trip, I had the opportunity to go to two trade shows in Vienna. They were three weeks apart, so I figured that in between, I'd visit some other European cities and approach the bars/restaurants to see if they were interested in adding some unique Australian spirits to their offering. I also had the chance to visit Andalusia, Spain for a tour of some sherry bodegas (Jerez de la Frontera) and barrel cooperages (Cordoba and Montilla). On the way home, I stayed in Abu Dhabi for two nights because I was able to get free accommodation through Etihad.
